While the odds of this occurring in Chicago are low, it’s best to be prepared.

for 2009. We said we were going to turn around the recession. We said
we’d create jobs. And we said we’d do it in 12 months. What happened?
We did it in three. It was the most successful period in the history
of the United States. And 2010 is only going to be better. How awesome
is that?”

My Initial Thoughts on The Boxee Beta

Playing with the free Boxee Beta http://blog.boxee.tv/2009/12/07/the-boxee-beta/
While Boxee is really built for couch surfing with a remote I’ve beenplaying with it using a mouse on a 2nd monitor next to my desktop PC.
The interface is slick and the content is fairly amazing. Once you
have it set up you can click the heart icon while watching a show to
share the good stuff via the social network(s) of your choice
(Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc). This Lifehacker post convinced me to give it a try.
http://lifehacker.com/5442995/first-look-at-the-boxee-beta The hardware part of the offering is called Boxee Box and it is coming
sometime in the 2nd Quarter 2010 for around $199. I would like it to
be a little cheaper given that if you want to totally cut the cable
subscription you need one of these for each TV and that can add up
(family room, bedroom, home office or maybe the kitchen). Then again
Comcast gets around $700 a year out of me and I’ve been subscribing
for years. Yikes. I should try not to think about that.
Starbucks is a leading economic indicator and their sales are up. Woot.
